Covering how to get set up as a merchant.
The current iteration of Checkout will be retired in the medium term. We will give at least six month's notice to existing Checkout merchants and will provide further information when Checkout functionality has been integrated in to the new CoinJar.
In the meantime we've partnered with BitPOS, Australia's most experienced bitcoin merchant services platform, to provide dedicated merchant products and support. BitPOS offer an API complemented by wooCommerce and Magento plugins to integrate with your website's shopping cart.
Generally, we direct merchant support requests to BitPOS. However, if you have any questions about your existing Checkout account, you're welcome to get in touch.
What was Checkout?
Checkout was a quick and easy way for businesses to accept bitcoin. The benefit of using CoinJar Checkout was that businesses didn't need to be bitcoin savvy to get started. Checkout automatically converted the bitcoin your customers paid into Australian dollars. This reduced the risks of market fluctuation, yet still allowed customers to pay with bitcoin.
Normally, when selling a product or service, you’d send your customers an invoice. With Checkout, we called invoices Orders and they were simple to get set up. You could quickly add the items being purchased, attach an Australian dollar value, then send the link to the invoice to your customer. They would pay in bitcoin and you would receive Australian dollars.
We look forward to integrating the Checkout functionality in to the new CoinJar in the coming months.
