Buying, converting and selling cryptocurrency: the basics

You can buy, sell and convert any of our supported cryptocurrencies with CoinJar.

To be eligible, you'll need to:

You can buy cryptocurrency using British Pound Sterling (GBP), EUR and AUD in your CoinJar. You can make a bank transfer from your bank account to your CoinJar to add GBP, EUR or AUD.

You can buy cryptocurrency using cryptocurrency that's already in your account. To do this, you can use the 'Convert' option in your cryptocurrency account.

You can sell a cryptocurrency to exchange it back into GBP, EUR and AUD.

 

What's in the Buy/Sell tab?

In the Buy/Sell tab, you can find:
  • A list of CoinJar's supported cryptocurrencies.
  • The market current price for each cryptocurrency.
  • A price chart for the past 24 hours.

If you select a cryptocurrency in this list, you'll also see:

  • CoinJar's buy and sell prices for that cryptocurrency.
  • Market stats.
  • Buy/Sell buttons so that you can make a trade.

 

Trading from your account

You can also head over to the Accounts section of your CoinJar and select your desired cryptocurrency. There, you can locate Buy, Sell and Convert options.

 

How to buy or sell cryptocurrency 

  1. Navigate to your desired cryptocurrency in either the Buy/Sell tab. Or, head over to 'Accounts' and locate your desired cryptocurrency's account.
  2. Select 'Buy' or 'Sell'.
  3. Enter the amount you'd like to purchase or sell. You can also use buttons to select a preset amount or the maximum amount possible. You can use the button labelled with the two arrows to toggle between number of tokens or an amount in AUD, GBP or EUR as shown in the images below.

  4. Select 'Next' and review the transaction quote.
  5. 'Confirm' when ready.

 

Your funds will then be in their new account. You can view details on this transfer in either your Fiat Account or cryptocurrency account.

 

How to convert cryptocurrency

  1. Navigate to 'Accounts' in your CoinJar.
  2. Select a cryptocurrency account to convert funds from.
  3. Select an cryptocurrency account to convert funds to. 
  4. Enter the amount you'd like to convert. You can also use buttons to select a preset amount or the maximum amount possible.
  5. Select 'Next' and review the transaction quote.
  6. 'Confirm' when ready.


Your funds will then be in their new account. You can view details of this transfer in your respective cryptocurrency accounts.
