Supported regions
Residents in the following regions will be able to complete identity verification:

Ireland: You must be a citizen of Ireland or have the right to reside in Ireland.

United Kingdom: You must be a citizen of the United Kingdom or have the right to reside in the United Kingdom, or be a citizen of the United Kingdom's self-governed dependencies (the Bailiwick of Guernsey, the Bailiwick of Jersey, and the Isle of Man).
- Australia: You must be a citizen of Australia or hold a valid Australian visa.
Supported devices
Identity verification can be started using CoinJar in a web browser, or CoinJar's mobile app for iOS and Android.
If you're using CoinJar's mobile app, you can check whether your device is compatible by heading over to your device's app store.
Supported proof of identity documents
When verifying with CoinJar, you'll be provided with the opportunity to select from a range of documents (that must be in date and not be due for renewal within 60 days):
- Irish Driving Licence: Must be valid and in good condition. Provisional licences are also accepted.
- Irish Passport: Issued by the Irish Government through the Passport Service of the Department of Foreign Affairs. Your passport must be valid and in good condition.
- Irish Passport Card: Issued by the Irish Government through the Passport Service of the Department of Foreign
- National Identity Card: Issued from any EU country
- Valid passport or driving licence: Issued from another EU country
- Irish Residence Permit: Must be valid and in good condition.
Supported proof of address documents
You will be required to provide proof of address. This document must meet the following requirements:
- show your full name,
- current residential address,
- dated in the last 90 days,
- and not be obscured or cropped in any way.
We can accept the following documents:
- Account statement issued by a bank or building society: Must be the original PDF document and show the account’s sort code and account number (screenshots cannot be accepted)

Utility bill: We accept a variety of utility bills including bills issued electronically. Acceptable documents are:
- Gas and/or electricity bill
- Water bill
- Landline and/or home broadband bill
- Mortgage statement: Must be the original document

Office of the Revenue Commissioners tax document: We can accept the following types of documents issued by Revenue within the current financial year:
- Tax assessment
- Tax Credit Certificate
- Statement of account
- Tax Clearance Certificate
- Property Tax Notice
- Local authority tax bill or document (e.g. council tax bill)
Unsupported documents
You will not be able to use the following documents to verify your identity:
- Digital driving licences
- University or workplace identification cards
- Birth or marriage certificates
- Expired documents
You will not be able to use the following documents as proof of address:
- Mobile telephone bills
- TV licences
- Tenancy agreements
- Insurance documents (car, home, life)
- Payslips, P45, P65, Work ID cards (except as EDD proof of occupation and finances)
- Citizen card, Proof of Age
- Foreign passports (except EU/EEA ) without appropriate Residential Permit
- Unreadable, manipulated or edited documents
