If you no longer wish to use CoinJar, you can request to have your account permanently deactivated. You will need to have access to your account in order to withdraw any funds and complete the deactivation.
How do I prepare my account for deactivation?

Move your funds out of CoinJar
Transfer any remaining balances from your CoinJar or CoinJar Exchange to an external wallet or bank account. You can refer to the following guides for withdrawing your balance:-

Confirm your withdrawals have arrived
If you have withdrawn funds to a linked bank account or external cryptocurrency address, check that the funds have been received at the destination before you proceed with account deactivation.

Save your statements and tax records
Download any account statements or tax information. Once your account is deactivated, this information will only be available again if you reactivate your account.

- Read the displayed warnings, then click Confirm
- Complete the Account Deactivation form
Once this form is submitted, your account will be deactivated.

Terms of Account Deactivation
- You will not be able to sign up for a new CoinJar using the same email address, mobile phone number, or username in the future.
- We cannot prevent transfers from being sent to your CoinJar after it is deactivated. Please contact those who have your CoinJar’s cryptocurrency addresses recorded and ask that they do not send transfers to these addresses in the future. By deactivating your account, you agree that future transfers received by your CoinJar addresses will become property of CoinJar.
- Any funds left within your CoinJar after deactivation may be irrecoverable.
- We will maintain information provided by you in accordance with our Privacy Policy and your country’s AML/CTF requirements.
- We do not offer full account deletion. This is part of our fraud prevention initiative and to fulfil record retention obligations under law. Deactivation will lock your account and prevent you, or any other individual, from accessing the account in the future.
- We don’t automatically unsubscribe you from our newsletter. If you don’t wish to receive updates from us, please use the personalised unsubscribe link found at the bottom of any CoinJar mailer.
- You may request account reactivation in the future by contacting CoinJar Support. However, you will not be able to reactivate your CoinJar for a period of 90 days from deactivation.
Data retention
CoinJar is unable to permanently delete any documentation or information that has been provided by customers during sign up, ID verification, or otherwise. Know Your Customer (KYC) as well as the AML/CTF Act require us to maintain identification documents/details that are volunteered to us by customers, for at least seven years. You can of course exercise your right to opt out of receiving any marketing communications from CoinJar.
