Buy crypto with Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay

Buy cryptocurrency instantly with a Visa or Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay directly in the CoinJar app, for only a 2% fee. No prior bank deposit is required, and all Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards are supported.

Buy crypto with a credit or debit card

  1. Select Trade, the floating action button in the CoinJar app, or the Trade button at the top of the CoinJar website.
  2. On the Buy tab, select the cryptocurrency you want to buy.
  3. In the Pay With row, select your linked card. If you haven't linked a card yet, select Link a new card, enter your card number and billing currency, then select Submit.
  4. Enter the amount you want to buy.
  5. Select Review Order, then check the fee, conversion rate and purchase amount.
  6. Select Confirm.
  7. If your financial institution requires it, you'll be redirected to complete additional authorisation via 3D Secure (3DS) for the transaction.

Buy crypto with Apple Pay or Google Pay

  1. Select Trade, the floating action button in the CoinJar app, or the Trade button at the top of the CoinJar website.
  2. On the Buy tab, select the cryptocurrency you want to buy.
  3. In the Pay With row, select Apple Pay or Google Pay, depending on your device.
  4. Enter the amount you want to buy.
  5. Select Review Order, then select Confirm.
  6. You'll be redirected to Apple Pay or Google Pay to finalise the transaction.

Fees

Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay purchases incur a 2% fee. Recurring Buy carries a 1% flat fee. Apple Pay and Google Pay aren't available for Recurring Buy.

Additional fees may apply:

  • Credit cards: Your provider may charge a cash advance fee, please contact your financial institution. A billing currency other than AUD may also incur foreign exchange fees.
  • Debit cards: A billing currency other than your native currency may incur foreign exchange fees.

Reserved Balances

  • The first purchase with a given card is held in a reserved balance for seven days.
  • Funds are released once seven days have passed and no disputes have been received.
  • Future purchases with the same card aren't subject to the hold.
